There has been a number of sexual assault violations throughout Virginia Tech's campus and they have increased each month. There has also been a potential shooter situation which is scary for all people on campus, especially at Virginia Tech's campus.

I spoke with one off-campus student, the manager of the library coffee shop, and a Virginia Tech alum and Blacksburg resident. Each had a different perspective on the incidents occurring at Virginia Tech and had insight into the situation.

When asked about Virginia Tech's overall handling of these incidents, off-campus student, Reagan Keel said, "I think Virginia Tech has handled the incidents very poorly, ...and I think they should take more action and try to resolve the issues on campus."

Blacksburg resident, Roy Brown spoke with me about the active shooter situation. He was in support of the police department and how Virginia Tech handled the situation, but he did acknowledge he wasn't sure about all the details surrounding it.

According to Virginia Tech's protocol, the threat assessment team will determine whether or not the report is enough to call in the Virginia Tech Police Department. In the instance of the shooter threat in November, the team did not deem it a serious threat despite much of the students' worries.

Manager of Espress Oasis, Meghan Henry, spoke about the dangerous areas of campus and even at her store, the loading dock can be scary and unsafe. Crimes have continued to increase this year at Virginia Tech especially ones under the sexual violation category. A full daily crime report can be found here.
