Journalism in the next 10 years: A Podcast
By Brady Schlesman and Phoebe McLaughlin

Phoebe and I spoke about how journalism has changed and what to expect in the next 10 years on the latest edition of the podcast. Topics such as print media, shifting to shorter stories and quick news, and the fading away of morning shows.

We believe that print media will be completely gone in the next 10 years and journalists will have to cater more than they already do towards online users and digital media. Journalists will have to write specifically for digital media taking into account how their article looks on a tablet, phone, computer, and things of that nature.

Another shift coming in the next 10 years is the transition from longer stories to short and concise writing. Attention spans are probably going to decrease like they have over the years and people aren't going to want read long stories and take a lot of time to do so.

We also think that the morning talk shows on television and radio will decrease in volume and popularity, thus the need for them will vanish and they will have to adapt to stay alive. We suggested a shift to podcasts as they are growing in popularity every year. According to Statista, podcasts have grown from 26% of the population knowing about them to 78% over the last 15 years.
